The backgammon board doubles as a chess board. The four sides of the chess board feature embossed paintings of a Mongol polo match. Led by the legendary Genghis Khan, the Mongols swept through the lands west of their native region in the early 13th century and left a lasting influence on Persian arts and culture. The board comes with matching pieces.

Khatam (Marquetry)

    Marquetry is the art of decorating the surface of wooden articles by using small triangles. As much as, the fineness of these triangles and harmony of designs and figures are considered, the higher quality of Marquetry is obtained. Marquetry is the art, in which so many different materials are used, that sometimes exceeds even more than forty. Fixing the different patterns and designs on wood, such as triangular designs, is done with special care, expertise and skill ness of artisan, by suing various kinds of wood, bone, ivory, shell, brass and copper wires. The Marquetry, with these special features, can be exclusively attributed to Iran. This art-craft has a long history in Iran, which goes back to sixteenth century (11th century Hijri). The artisans of Shiraz were the first who began to produce the Marquetry, through by now it is produced in Esfehan as well. At present, for producing so many items, this technique is used, mostly to produce different types and sizes of frames, cigarette and chocolate boxes, stationary sets, dining room chairs and table sets, etc.

 

Miniatures

 The word “Miniature” is meant the mini and small nature. In miniature painting, artisan who is not obliged to consider the rules and restrictions of regular paintings, such as perspective, paints his feelings from the nature as be desires. According to the results of the studies of most of researchers, this art with some differences from present forms, was born in Iran, and after many  changes in different periods, faced with boom, and completed, as it is by now. Isfahan, is the main production centre of miniature, and at present, various designs and patterns are being produced, among them, the most famous designs are hunting, polo, historical monuments, bird and flower, animals, traditional and rural living style, etc. This art, mostly, is accompanied by special drawings and lines (Eslimi and Khatai lines) “called Tazhib”, to become more attractive.
